John Charles Namayindi, the newly elected Busia district LCV chairman has pleaded with the councilors to allow the district to source for the service commission from one of the neighbouring districts so that they can advertise and recruit civil servants before the end of the financial year.
In his address as the new district boss today when receiving power of instruments at Busia district headquarters, Namayindi, said that he is not ready to allow the district to take back to central government 3.6 billion shillings in utilised wage funds. He said that although the district lacks fully constituted district service commission, they can source from neighbouring districts so that they do recruitments.
Among the sectors they want to do recruitments are health and education that still have challenges of understaffing.
According to Namayindi, they can utilise the remaining period of one month to request public service commission to allow them higher the service commission and then advertise and also write to central government not to take back the money because the recruitment process will have started.
Aramazan Mulira, the newly elected Busia district council speaker said that currently Busia has only two members in the service commission who cannot do anything. As councilors they are ready to come up with one voice, sit a council meeting and generate final resolution on the issues raised by the district chairperson because they want the new political term to be of significance to area residents.
Stanley Joseph Wejuli, the male councilor of Namungodi Town Council , welcomed the LCV chairman’s idea and said that they want the recruitment to take place. He said that this time there’s no need for the council to have chaos the way it used to be in just concluded political term.
Fred Bwire Wanyma, the male councilor of Sikuda subcounty expressed worry that they may not achieve retaining the unutilised 3.6 billion wage fund as per LCV chairperson demand because the period remained for the financial year to end can not allow district to convince the central government-URN.
