Close sources say that the mood at Najjanankubi continues to be that of misery and frustation after renowned historian Bonifce Toterebuka Bamwenda, who chairs the FDC electoral commission which he used to seal the fate of Katonga group members, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Knowledgeable sources say Bamwenda’s situation is life-threatening which has made his allies and fellow leaders at Najjanankumbi to become very scared and sleepless. They are uncertain about what the future holds and for how long.
Bamwenda became famous during the Najjanankumbi evil money debates of 2023 when he defied party elders and FDC members and even common decency by organising the controversial delegates conference at Lugogo while telling off Kizza Besigye and others to go and hang if they feel like.
Sources add that because of frail health the grey haired Bamwenda these days rarely comes for party meetings and that he was recently demoralised when he called on those wanting to carry the FDC flags in 2026 to express interest and less than 200 responded in several months.
He is also stressed to see the good name he had built for years as a CA delegate from Bunyoro and a news anchor at radio Uganda being destroyed in the evil money debate. He is also broke yet he has many children and grand children to look after.
