Two Arua City officials have been interdicted for reportedly mismanaging funds.
The officers are Sam Adriko the Acting Chief Finance Officer and Anthony Dradria the Acting Senior City Engineer.
They were interdicted by the City Clerk David Kyasanku following a directive from the Inspectorate of Government. Two months ago, the Inspectorate of Government stormed Arua City and ordered the arrest of the two after reportedly discovering that they connived and mismanaged over 50 million Shillings meant for resurfacing one of the roads in the City.
They were detained in Luzira Prison in Kampala before they were arraigned before the Anti-corruption Court, which later granted them cash bail of 10 million and 5 million respectively.
While briefing the Councilors on Thursday at the City Hall, David Kyasanku, the City Clerk disclosed that he was directed to interdict the two for six months as investigations continue.
The interdiction of the two comes after the Deputy City Clerk was also arrested, detained in Luzira, produced before the Anti-Corruption Court and later granted cash bail less than three months ago over mismanagement of the Arua Main market and the Taxi Park.
Meanwhile, Kyasanku also revealed that he has been directed by the Ministry of Public Service and Finance to recruit and fill the position of the Chief Finance Officer, Head of Planning, City Commercial Officer, Anastacia and Theatre Assistant, further casting doubt on the return of the interdicted CFO-URN.
