Police in Kyegegwa District have arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a woman, her infant daughter and a domestic worker in Karokalungi Village. The three were identified as Kansiime Christine, 28, her daughter, Miracle, aged one year and three months, and Joan A, 19, who worked as a domestic worker at Christine’s home.

Vicent Twesige, the Rwenzori West Region Police spokesperson, said the killings occurred on October 7, 2026, at Karokalungi LC I, Kyamagaba Parish, Nkanja Sub-county. “The deceased have been identified as Kansiime Christine, 28, her daughter, Miracle, aged one year and three months, and Joan A, 19, a domestic worker employed at Christine’s home,” Twesige said.

The bodies were discovered the following day, October 8, when a neighbour visited the residence at around 1 pm to check on the occupants. According to Vicent, the neighbour raised the alarm after finding the bodies, prompting other residents to notify the police. Officers from Kyaka II Police Station responded to the scene, later joined by a team from Kyegegwa Central Police Station.

Twesige said investigators used a sniffer dog named Bruno to trace possible leads after establishing that the scene had been well preserved. “A sniffer dog, Bruno, was introduced to the scent bed and picked up a human scent, which he followed during the tracking exercise,” he said.

The dog led officers to a corridor in Bwiliza Ndolobwile Village, where clothing belonging to one of the deceased was recovered. The tracking trail subsequently led officers to the home of Bageza Tonesiti, where the clothing was recovered. “Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident following the canine tracking exercise,” Twesige said.

He added that investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the killings and bring those responsible to justice. Police have not yet disclosed further details about the suspects or the possible motive behind the killings-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
