Police in Hoima City are holding a private security guard accused of shooting and killing his colleague at a security deployment in Kiryatete Cell. The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Godfrey Kasaga, a guard with RADAH TECH Security Company Limited. He is accused of shooting Pascal Agenda, also an employee of the same company, in the early hours of Saturday.

The incident occurred at about 4:48 am at Nile Depot in Kiryatete Cell, where the two guards had been deployed to provide security. According to information gathered by Uganda Radio Network (URN), the two guards developed a disagreement for reasons that remain unclear before Kasaga allegedly opened fire on Agenda. Agenda was shot in the back, head, and left arm and died at the scene.

James Mugisha, the manager of RADAH TECH Security Company, said he alerted police after learning about the incident, prompting officers to respond and arrest the suspect. Kasaga was taken to Hoima City Central Police Station, where he remains in custody as investigations continue. Mugisha said the motive for the shooting had not yet been established.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said police recovered the firearm allegedly used in the shooting. He said officers recovered a SAR gun, registration number UGPSO702601308647, which was loaded with four rounds of ammunition. Police also recovered Agenda’s body from the scene and conveyed it to Hoima City Mortuary for a postmortem examination before it was handed over to his relatives for burial arrangements.

Hakiza said investigations are ongoing and that once completed, the suspect will be arraigned before court and charged with murder-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
