In a Tik Tok live discussion held on Thursday night, hundreds of NUP foot soldiers supported their fellows who beat up Makindye Ssabagabo MP David Serukenya.
He was beaten up after foot soldiers failed to access his ambulance which they wanted to use to transport the body of their fellow Paul Musoke who died after unknown arsonists set his house on fire in Wakiso district.
Musoke had been one of Kyagulanyi’s body guards. Foot soldiers were angry that the salary-earning party MPs ignored Musoke and didn’t contribute yet that’s all Musoke family needed to access better treatment than was available at Kiruddu. They beat up Serukenya after failing to use his ambulance to transport the body from Kirudu.
During the burial, they became violent, grabbed microphones and shouted at party leaders saying they are tired of being used and dumped after elections. It was claimed that many MPs benefited from Musoke’s campaign tactics yet the elected MPs weren’t there for him when he needed them most. Only the Kira MP George Musisi was present at the burial.
The MPs say they are tired of being exploited because every foot soldier that campaigned for them was paid and facilitated. The MPs say the party should help foot soldiers because they are already paying a lot of money to Kavule.
On the Thursday Tik Tok live conducted by Mwoyo gwa gwanga Sseremba Jimmy and Katongole Julius Mumira Nsanafu, the foot soldiers led by Nzigo of Jinja complained of neglect and accused NUP MPs and other elected leaders of being ungrateful.
Nzigo complained that they are tired of being asked to go and create jobs yet when they open up something still NUP MPs who earn a lot of money don’t support their work or only contribute 20k which can’t do much. He accused leaders of Kavule for ignoring his concert when he organized the Busoga expo in Jinja yet the same MPs supported King Saha’s event at Kololo.
He called this double standards and warned that foot soldiers would soon storm Kavule and beat party bosses like Rubongoya, Habib Buwembo and others. These two with Joel Ssenyonyi were accused of refusing to order MPs, mayors and other elected NUP people to get jobs for foot soldiers.
The foot soldiers said the jobs are there and this is what MPs and mayors promised them at campaign time. They demanded that each elected NUP leader donates 500k into a sacco which Kavule can use to buy boba bodas for foot soldiers.
Katongole who is a personal assistant to Kyagulanyi advised foot soldiers to fight harder and remove Museveni because he is the problem and not the MPs.
He told the foot soldiers that the presidential chair they are supposed to fight for is with Museveni and not NUP MPs.
He made it clear the indisciplined foot soldiers who abuse party leaders will be expelled because NUP is a party of discipline.
He also told foot soldiers to be in the struggle on conviction and to fight for their country plus their children instead of expecting payment or reward from Kyagulanyi and NUP MPs.
He said MPs are innocent and have nowhere to get the jobs from. He said even NRM can’t get enough money and jobs for its foot soldiers. The foot soldiers promised to beat up lord mayor Balimwezo for lying to them about the KCCA jobs.
They said he told them that Kampala needs an engineer and they worked hard to make that happen and they now want him to play his part since they delivered him to office.
The foot soldiers cursed Zahara Luyulika and Abubaker Kawalya for using them without pay but they thanked Kampala woman MP Shamim Malende for always being there for them. They said she gives them money and buys them camera equipment like stands which they use to produce live videos.
They said other MPs must be like her. They said they will fight Joel Ssenyonyi, Buwembo Habib and Rubongoya until they force Balimwezo and other NUP mayors to give them the jobs they promised them.
Katongole said that many foot soldiers are bad-mannered and they misused the boda bodas which Kavule bought for them some years ago through secretary general Rubongoya. Katongole blamed Nzigo for organizing his useless Busoga expo event and forcing NUP MPs to buy his tickets yet he isn’t as big as King Saha whose tickets were selling like hot cake.
