The Chief Administrative Officer-CAO Arua has issued an ultimatum for all technical staff to relocate to the new district headquarters. In a letter dated October 19th, a copy of which URN has seen, Deo Kabugo the CAO directed all the technical staff to relocate to their allocated office rooms latest 30th October 2026.
The new Arua district headquarters built at Odumi, the former Vurra County headquarters was officially commissioned by the then Local Government Minister Raphael Magezi in May this year but has since remained unoccupied.
Since the new elected leaders were sworn in in May this years, they have continued to work from the then offices located in the heart of Arua City.
The official commissioning of Arua City in 2022, only saw Arua district Police move to the new headquarters while the RDC, DISO and political players decided to relocate to a private commercial building along Arua Nebbi road, six kilometers away from the new district headquarters.
“As you are aware the district received a new block at Odumi which was completed and ready for occupation and rooms have been allocated, this is therefore to inform you and request you to relocate by 30th October 2026,” reads the CAO’s directive in part.
Some unconfirmed reports from the corridors of power in the district indicate that most of the newly elected political leaders were reluctant to move and occupy the new structure for fear of unspecified traditional spiritual powers from incumbents who lost the elections-URN.
