They say scorelines sometimes flatter but not Uganda Cranes emphatic 4-0 win over Mozambique in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. Rogers Mato (brace), Allan Okello and Elio Capradossi scored the goals for Uganda.

Beyond the goals, Uganda was dominant in almost every aspect and you hardly find a game where the Cranes create that many chances.

It is not surprising that Coach Paul Put ranks the general performance as the best since he took charge of the team back in 2023.

“If I show your the statistics from today’s game, you would be surprised. The performance even betters some of the teams in Europe in terms of the level of energies generated, the ball distribution and chances created,” he started before adding, “I agree it is one of the best performance the team has had and I am proud of the players.”

The gaffer heaped praise on his charges, indicating they played according to instructions.

“I want to thank the players because we wanted to start on a strong note and we exactly did that. The chances were created and when the goals started coming, we grew in confidence and eventually managed to get a result.”

Put also revealed that the game on Friday was an opportunity to revenge for the 3-1 loss to Mozambique in the reverse fixture.

“I told the players when we lost 3-1 to them that the performance was good, considering we went a man down when Denis Omedi was sent off and also conceded goals due to individual mistakes. So this was an opportunity to revenge.” He said.

Uganda curently sits second on the log in Group G on 12 points and will face Somalia on Monday at Mandela National Stadium.
