Police are investigating the rape and murder of a 50-year-old woman, Paulina Chemukai, whose lifeless body was found along the Kanyangaren River in Kakaresi Village, Amudat Town Council. Chemukai, a resident of Kongoror Village, was last seen alive on December 1, 2024, at a drinking joint with her husband, John Lotirwari.

According to reports, Chemukai and her husband spent the day drinking alcohol in Lotirwari Ward, but around 8:00 pm, she disappeared, leaving her husband behind. The following morning, her naked body was discovered by passersby along the riverbank.

The police were notified, and investigations began. The preliminary findings suggest that Chemukai was intoxicated when a gang of assailants took advantage of her state, dragging her into the bush where she was raped and subsequently killed, likely by strangulation.

Michael Longole, the Moroto Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the death and stated that a homicide team, canine units, and other personnel were dispatched to the crime scene for investigation. Despite the presence of a canine dog, no significant leads were found.

The body was taken to Amudat Hospital for a postmortem, and further investigations are ongoing. Longole urged the public to share any information that could help identify the suspects. This tragic incident follows another similar case in Moroto District, where a woman was killed under similar circumstances just two weeks ago-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
