The People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) party officials have opened a regional office in Kigezi ahead of the 2026 general elections. The offices were opened along Kigongi road in Kigongi A village, Central Division, Kabale district.
Speaking at the opening of the offices, Michael Lulume Bayigga, the PFF party Deputy Chairman, says that office will serve the Districts of Kabale, Rubanda, Rukiga, Kisoro, Kanungu and Rukungiri. Bayigga says that the office is part of proof that the party is present at the grassroots to woo support and is prepared to participate in the 2026 general elections.
Party members led by Bayigga also used the same platform to demand for release of PFF leaders, retired Col.Dr.Kiiza Besigye and Abed Lutare, and the other political prisoners.
PFF leaders in the region also held a first convention in the region at Kabale-based Hilltop hotel to push for a federal system of governance.
During the convention, Fred Turyamuhweeza, former Rujumbura county MP, was elected and sworn in as the governor for Kigezi region, while Ben Duncan Sande was elected and sworn in as the chairman in charge of legal and human rights.
