The speaker Oboth Oboth has today met with Rotary club members and leaders and delivered the Ugx3bn pledge which had been made by Anita Among who was the speaker before he took charge.
Oboth Oboth hosted Rotary leaders and declared his full support for the cancer run event, which they are organizing at Kololo airstrip and other major towns this coming Sunday.
The Ugx3bn is a contribution towards the building and equipping of a cancer treatment center at St. Joseph’s Nsambya hospital.
Oboth Oboth said there was no other option apart from fulfilling the pledge because Anita Among promised the money in her capacity as someone who was occupying the speakership office at that time. The cancer run happens annually and it started 15 years ago.
The rotary team which met Oboth Oboth, was led by the past district governor Rotarian Stephen Mwanje.
Wakiso District Woman MP Betty Naluyima, Jinja City Woman MP Sarah Lwansasula, parliamentary staff and other members of the Rotary fraternity were also present at the meeting.
This year’s cancer run will be under the banner Gwanga Mujje and it will take place at more than 100 locations across the country and abroadGive us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
