Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi has kicked off his Kampala campaigns with a series of stopovers across Nakawa Division, starting at Kitintale Market on Saturday. While addressing market vendors, Mafabi repeated key statements he has made throughout his campaign, promising to improve livelihoods and ensure that citizens have money in their pockets.

From Kitintale, Mafabi is scheduled to proceed to Luzira Market before heading to Kisenyi, Port Bell, Kirombe, Biina, Mbuya and Acholi Quarters. He will later move through Ntinda and conclude the day with a major rally at Mulimira Playground in Bukoto.

Addressing a sizeable crowd, Mafabi outlined a number of pledges drawn from the FDC manifesto. Among them is a commitment to implement equal remuneration for teachers, guaranteeing that those in arts subjects will earn the same as their counterparts in science disciplines.

He also pledged to increase the monthly stipend for senior citizens to UGX 60,000, saying the measure is intended to enhance the welfare of the elderly. “We have come with a plan to change Uganda. I request that you read our manifestos,” Mafabi told supporters. He further cautioned voters against falling victim to electoral bribery.

Mafabi alleged that supporters of incumbent President Yoweri Museveni may attempt to influence voters with money and other inducements. He advised residents that if such offers are made, they may accept them but must not reward the incumbent with their vote on polling day.

Meanwhile, although Mafabi had initially been scheduled to campaign across the Kampala Metropolitan area throughout the coming week, a revised programme indicates that he will return to eastern Uganda later in the week.
