The Ministry of Health, through Uganda National Medical Stores, has today, Monday, delivered an X-ray machine to Muyembe Health Center IV located in Bulambuli Town Council, Bulambuli District.
Muyembe Health Center IV is one of the health centers that the Ministry of Health intends to elevate to a district hospital. The requirements include having a theatre, X-ray and scan machine.
In the 10th Parliament, Sarah Wekomba Nambozo , the Bulambuli District Woman Member of Parliament, lobbied for a scan machine and a flashlight lamp for mothers during delivery.
The equipment has been installed in the delivery theatre at Muyembe Health Center IV. She pledged to lobby for an X-ray machine if elected in 2026, as a way of speeding up the process of granting the health center hospital status.
Speaking to the media today Monday during the delivery of the machine, Sarah Wekomba Nambozo said she lobbied for the X-ray machine from the Ministry of Health due to the long distance people of Bulambuli were travelling to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital to access the services. Wekomba said she is confident that the dream of elevating the health center to a hospital will soon be realized.
She also pledged to go ahead and lobby for elevation of health center IIs to IIIs and IIIs to Vs as away of improving on health in the district.
Bulambuli District Health Officer, Martin Naimu, said the machine has been delivered and the district is going to construct a cool house where it will be installed, and then get an expert to operate it before it starts functioning.
He said that before the arrival of this machine, patients were being referred to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital to get such services, which was very expensive for them due to the long distance.
Some of the locals who spoke to our reporter expressed their happiness and urged other leaders to emulate Wekomba by lobbying for other development initiatives for Bulambuli-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
