Police in Pallisa District have arrested a man following the death of his brother-in-law after a domestic altercation in Kadoki Village, Akadot Parish. The suspect, identified as John Outa, 25, allegedly clashed with Charles Faustine Okonye, 38, on the night of June 6, 2026, when he visited his in-laws’ home to check on his wife.

According to Bukedi North Region Police Spokesperson Wilfred Kyempasa, the disagreement escalated into a physical fight during which Okonye sustained serious injuries. He was first rushed to Pallisa General Hospital and later referred to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on June 7.

Police say the District Police Commander (DPC) of Pallisa, SP Patience Namara, together with the District CID team, visited the scene and used the opportunity to caution residents against mob justice. Outa has since been arrested alongside his wife, Rose Apio, to assist with ongoing investigations.

A murder case has been registered at Pallisa Central Police Station under CRB 250/2026, and inquiries are ongoing. The body of the deceased has been taken to Mbale City Mortuary for a postmortem examination. Authorities have commended residents who reported the incident to police instead of taking the law into their own hands, saying community cooperation is key in handling domestic violence-related cases-URN.
