Seven suspects are in detention at the Kasimbi police post in Kibaale District for allegedly hacking a man to death. They are suspected of hacking Joseph Kasundara, 34, a resident of Ziranduru village, Kasozi parish in Kasimbi Sub County.
The suspects, whose particulars have been concealed for fear of jeopardizing investigations with others still at large. They are said to have hacked Kasundara severally on the head, neck, face, and stomach in the early hours of Monday morning.
It is alleged that the suspects had a misunderstanding with the deceased while in a bar in Byeyare village in Kasimbi sub-county. The suspects, who were allegedly armed with machetes, reportedly hacked the deceased, leaving him in a coma.
Kasimbi Sub-county LC3 Chairperson, Omuhereza Ategeka Kasundara, was rushed to Alstine Health Center III for treatment, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Tibaingana condemned the incident and appealed to the police to expedite investigations to ensure that the arrested suspects are arraigned before the court.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region Police spokesperson, has confirmed the incident, adding that investigations have commenced, with the hunt for more suspects ongoing. He said arrangements were being made to have the suspects transferred to Kibaale Central Police as investigations continue.
