Inside Story Why Kyazanga Mayor Thumped Lwengo Woman MP

By KT Reporter

There was pandemonium at Kyazanga Town Council headquarters in Lwengo District on Monday when the area LC3 Chairperson (aka Mayor) Mary Madah Nanyanzi descended on Lwengo Woman MP Cissy Namujju and rained several slaps onto her chubby face.

Eyewitnesses say that Cissy Namujju, who has been Lwengo Woman MP since 2016, was clobbered and beaten like a cobra snake by Nanyanzi who has never wished her any political success in Lwengo.

Lwengo RDC Emmy Katera Turyabagyenyi had to physically intervene to prevent Cissy Namujju from bleeding to death or coma. It was Turyabagyenyi who dragged away a belligerent Nanyanzi and thereby creating breathing space for the cantankerous Cissy Namujju who immediately demanded for water and evacuation to a nearby health center.

The residents had gathered to celebrate the inauguration of their new Town Council complex which is a 3 storied building whose construction was funded by the President through the Finance Ministry which released the Shs1.4bn which enabled the Abdul Kitata-led Lwengo District Council to put up the building.

This was a big day for Kyanzanga which is one of the Town Councils which make up Lwengo district besides the rural sub counties. At the event, there was provocation as supporters of Namujju kept shouting praising her for being the one who lobbied the President to avail the money through the Finance Ministry. This didn’t go down well with supporters of Nanyanzi who asserted that this was her achievement as the Kyazanga Town Council Mayor.

Nanyanzi was unable to stomach this provocation and left her seat to go and thump Cissy Namujju who personally was present to attend the same function. The two babes slapped each other real hard until the RDC Turyabagyenyi and area CAO Nathan Rujjumwa intervened and kept them apart. Before falling to the ground from where she called for help on top of her voice, a bleeding Cissy Namujju also managed to throw several punches which left Mayor Nanyanzi’s face swollen and bruised.

Nanyanzi accused Namujju of being against the physical infrastructure development of Kyazanga Town Council in favor of Lwengo Town Council from where she anticipates more votes. She claimed Namujju never contributed anything because she wanted the same project to be channeled to Lwengo Town Council which she has always favored.

As all this chaos, which the RDC has vowed to investigate in his capacity as the head of the district security Committee, ensued, the Lwengo district chairman Ibrahim Kitata weighed in and dismissed both Namujju and Nanyanzi as liars because none of them has anything to do with that Shs1.4bn project.

Kitata says that he personally lobbied for that project from the President which explains why its the district council, which he heads, that has been doing and monitoring everything. The trio belong to NRM and if this funding and intrigue doesn’t stop, Robert Kyagulanyi’s NUP could take advantage and sweep all electoral positions in Lwengo district come 2026.
