A security guard has been arrested for allegedly stealing forty million shillings.

Hassan Wagota was arrested in an operation conducted by the Police and UPDF soldiers. It is alleged that last month, Wagota broke into HUYSLINK, an NGO in Nkumba – Katabi Town Council, where he was guarding.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango says that Wagota was arrested from Kadama in Kibuku District where he had already bought a plot of land and constructed a house.  He disappeared from his workplace a day after the robbery.

Security sources said Wagota was tracked using his mobile phone number and was arrested at a doctor’s place.

“He had bought a motorcycle, a plot of land and had already constructed a house within the two weeks. He reportedly surprised his father when he went to the village with excitement and asked him to help him look for a plot of land,” a source said.

According to Onyango, another suspect identified as only Alex, has also been arrested to help the police in the investigations. He says that Alex was on duty when the robbery happened.
