A 10-year-old girl was knocked dead by a speeding truck while attempting to cross a road during a rainstorm in Nakapiripirit District. The accident occurred on September 7, 2026, at about 6:40 pm at Okudud Village, Moru-A-Ajore Parish, Kawaach Sub-county.

The deceased was identified as Rose Imalang, a resident of Okudud Village. Police said Imalang had been fetching water at a borehole when a storm with light rain began. She was reportedly attempting to cross the road to return home and seek shelter when she was knocked by a Fuso Fighter truck, registration number UAU 224V, travelling from Mbale towards Namalu.

According to police, the driver hooted before the collision, but the girl reportedly did not hear the warning because of the strong winds. Mike Longole, the Mt Moroto Regional Police spokesperson, confirmed that Imalang died at the scene. He identified the driver as 38-year-old Kaduwa Mustafa, a resident of Tangobi Village, Wikonge Parish, Muyembe Sub-county in Bulambuli District.

Longole said officers from the Moru-Ajore checkpoint visited and documented the scene following the accident. The truck was impounded and parked at Namalu Police Station, while Mustafa was arrested and detained there. The case was registered under TSD 05/07/09/2026, and the girl’s body was awaiting postmortem examination.

“We condole with the bereaved family and urge all road users, especially drivers, to exercise maximum caution during adverse weather conditions and to reduce speed in inhabited areas,” Longole said-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
