The Police in Nwoya District have arrested five people for alleged rape, robbery and causing grievous harm.
The Aswa West Regional Police Spokesperson, David Ongom Mudong, identified the suspects as Tumwebaze Laston, Kimbowa Stephen, Lutalo Gerald, Nasuru Mustafa, and Lubowa Ronald.
It is alleged that the suspects waylaid and indecently assaulted a three-month pregnant mother who had gone to demand her unpaid wages from the farm. He says that they beat her and inserted a stick into her private parts. The incident occurred in Gony Cogo village, Lutuk parish, Koch Lii Sub County in Nwoya District.
Mudong also alleges that on the same fateful day, the suspects also assaulted and robbed the area LC II of her money, worth 600,000 Shillings and a mobile phone, as she tried to restrain the suspects from assaulting the pregnant woman.
“The police, upon receipt of information, took up this matter by tracing and apprehending the alleged suspects, documented the scene and recorded statements from the victims and relevant witnesses to back up the investigations,” Mudong said-URN.
