Dorothy Namutebi will take over as the Head of Mortgages and Consumer Banking at Housing Finance Bank, effective August 10, 2026. Namutebi brings more than 22 years of experience in the banking industry, including 15 years at Housing Finance Bank, where she has held progressively senior positions in branch operations, workplace banking and sustainability.
Her appointment marks another step in a career that has given her extensive experience in mortgage banking, retail banking, workplace banking, customer relationship management and sustainability. Namutebi joined Housing Finance Bank in April 2011 as a Branch Operations Manager and later served as Branch Manager from November 2014 to November 2015.
She subsequently moved to Workplace Banking, where she served as Manager for more than eight years, from November 2015 to January 2024. In that role, she managed relationships with organisations and their employees, gaining extensive exposure to customer needs, employer relationships, customer acquisition and the delivery of financial solutions to different segments of the market.
In January 2024, Namutebi took on another strategic role as Manager, Sustainability, a position she held until her latest appointment. Her experience in sustainability further broadened her understanding of the role financial institutions can play in supporting economic and social development while responding to the needs of customers and communities.
Before joining Housing Finance Bank, Namutebi worked at DFCU Bank between 2004 and 2008, where she held positions in customer service, teller operations, and branch operations. She later joined United Bank for Africa as Branch Operations Supervisor, a position she held from July 2008 to April 2011.
Namutebi holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Makerere University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management and is an ACCA Affiliate. Commenting on her appointment, Namutebi said she was honoured to take on the new responsibility and expressed gratitude for the opportunities that have shaped her career at Housing Finance Bank.
“I am honoured to take on this responsibility and grateful for the opportunities that have shaped my journey at Housing Finance Bank over the past 15 years,” Namutebi said. She said the different roles she has held at the bank had given her a broader understanding of its customers, business and the impact of appropriate financial solutions.
“I look forward to bringing these experiences together in my new role and working with the team to strengthen our mortgage and consumer banking offering, deepen customer relationships and create solutions that respond to the evolving needs of Ugandans,” she said. Her appointment comes as Housing Finance Bank continues to strengthen its customer-focused approach and expand access to housing and consumer finance solutions for Ugandans-URN.
