A proposal is being mooted inside the Kavule-based NUP headquarters to have some of the NUP candidates who believe were cheated and robbed of their win in favor of the NRM competitors, swear-in themselves as an act of defiance and protest to the rigging which they say took place and was used to hijack their victory.
Each of the rigged NUP candidate who believes he won and his or her victory was just hijacked, will find a hidden location and record a video of himself taking oath and then release the same on tik tok. Kavule believes this will hurt Museveni and put the NRMs who benefited from the alleged rigging under pressure.
The same will also create political publicity for the NUP, keep the party relevant in the news and show that it’s still a party of vibe and defiance. Kavule believes that many of its candidates won but were never announced because the state specifically targeted them.
Those who are being advised to defiantly swear themselves in so that there is a replication of the same in the whole country include David Rubongoya, Flavia Kalule Nabagabe, Gorette Namuga, Rose Musajjaakawa of Masaka who was removed by Nameere, Lutamaguzi Semakula, Allan Mayanja, Charles Matovu of Busiro south, Proscovia Mukasa Nabossa of Mityana, Faridah Nabatanzi of Buikwe, Hilderman Kiyaga, Martin Sejjemba of Mawokota, Aisha Kabanda, Muwanga Kivumbi, Fred Nyanzi and others.
There are also proposals that Kyagulanyi who continues to be in hiding fearing to be harmed by the regime, emulates Besigye of 2016 and stage a shadow swearing-in ceremony to demonstrate to his supporters he has his own DR forms to prove that he won. The party lawyers have been asked to advise on the legal implications to be sure if this is something for which anyone can be charged with treason.
Among the councilors and other local government losers, those being advised to swear themselves in and cause Museveni to have sleepless nights include defeated lord councilor Julius Katongole Mumiransanafu of Rubaga, Nasif Najja of Wakiso district LC5 chairman among others. Swearing-in himself is exactly what Kizza Besigye did for president, protesting alleged vote rigging in 2016 and the Museveni government reacted by imprisoning him in Karamoja where he says he was almost assassinated at night.
He was later on charged with treason only for the government to fail to conclusively prosecute the case. Besigye demanded for full trial so that he would use court as a formal platform to produce his evidence and show the world how he actually won the vote only to be cheated in favour of the NRM candidate.
