The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has confirmed that he is detaining Eddie Mutwe, a renowned personal bodyguard of National Unity Platform President Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.

Gen Muhoozi through his X formerly twitter account confirmed that Eddie Mutwe is in the basement of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). He sarcastically added that Eddie Mutwe is currently learning Runyankore and later on shared his shaved head and beards.

Muhoozi said his soldiers captured Eddie Mutwe like grasshoppers and informed Bobi Wine that he is next and will be subjected to same treatment Eddie Mutwe is currently facing. “He is in my basement. Learning Runyankore. You are next! I captured NUP’s military commander like a grasshopper (Nsenene). If they keep on provoking us, we shall discipline them even more,” Muhoozi said.

Eddie Mutwe was kidnapped by men dressed in civilian wears and military fatigue on Sunday evening at Kiwango trading centre, Goma Division, Mukono Municipality. Eddie Mutwe and others had held a meeting at Namweezi village which is a stone throw from Kiwango trading centre where he was captured from.

Bobi Wine later took to his social media accounts and demanded for his immediate released. Since last Sunday, NUP lawyers who include Godfrey Musisi and Samuel Mulindwa Muyizzi have searched in various police stations but they were informed he was not there.

Police Spokesperson, ACP Kituuma Rusoke, said he was not aware of any police station that was holding Eddie Mutwe. This left NUP guessing the exact place where Eddie Mutwe was being held. But now Gen Muhoozi has confirmed that it’s the army holding him for unknown reasons.

“Eddie is looking very smart these days. The boys have tuned him well. He salutes Mzee’s picture every day before breakfast. I can’t release Eddie now. It will be unfair to me and him. He is learning Runyankore and we are both training for Kabobi,” Muhoozi said.

Muhoozi went further to explain that Eddie Mutwe started crying as soon as the boys grabbed him. “If you see Eddie’s head now he looks like an egg. Totally clean. The beards were the first thing the boys removed. After he finished crying and urinating.”

He said he hasn’t started because he has to castrate him. “Next is Kabobi! I have never joked in my life. I don’t know why people think my tweets are jokes.” It should be remembered that Muhoozi recently made changes of army spy wing command whereby Maj Gen James Birungi was sent to Mountain Division and replaced with Maj Gen Richard Otto-URN.
