National Unity Platform’s presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has called for unity of all people irrespective of their religious inclinations.
Kyagulanyi who was addressing his supporters at the Mpumudde estates primary school grounds in Jinja city on Friday, noted that Ugandans are one irrespective of their multiple tribal inclinations.
He some leaders are taking advantage of the tribal differences to create divisions amongst the people rather than uniting for national causes.
Kyagulanyi said that if elected to power, his government will ensure unity of all people, irrespective of who they are. He says this unity will be attained through fair distribution of national resources across board, enabling all Ugandans to have equal share of their country.
His message seems to have resonated well with residents. Amina Namutukula says the message of unity cuts across all spheres of life and it should be for all leaders to embrace.
Namutukula says that Uganda is bigger than all of us and it is imperative for all leaders to prioritize unity over endless divisions. She added that the country prides in a largely youthful population and it is the primary responsibility of all leaders to preach peace, rather than chaos.
Faridah Namuluta, another resident, says that messages of peace building are key in any growing democracy, which leaders ought to prioritize. She says that for long, opposition politicians have been associated with violence, but messages of peace from these same people changes the political narrative.
Namuluta says that peace building is key to national unity, which all leaders should prioritize irrespective of their political inclinations.
