The commandant of Basic Military Training School Kaweweta in Nakaseke district, Brigadier General Bonny Wolimbwa, is dead.
Wolimbwa has been involved in training and preparing UPDF troops for deployment to Somalia as part of the African Union Mission.
Brigadier General Felix Kulayigye, the spokesperson of the Uganda People’s Defence Force, said Brig Gen Wolimbwa died on Thursday at Victoria Hospital in Kampala city.
Kulayigye said the force has lost a disciplinarian and dedicated trainer.
” Wolimbwa has been a trainer throughout his career in the UPDF. He has produced a large number of men and officers. He has been a valuable General who contributed significantly to building a professional army. We celebrate his life, ” Kulayigye told URN.
UPDF is still consulting the family on his burial arrangements.
Earlier on, Brig Gen Wolimbwa also served as commandant for the Peace Support Operation and Training Centre, Singo, also located in Nakaseke district.
