During the burial of Paul Musoke, the arson victim on Monday, foot soldiers went ballistic and declared war on all party MPs except George Musisi. He is the only MP who was present at the burial.
At the burial, foot soldiers cursed MPs saying they are useless because they refused to fundraise money for Musoke yet he did a lot for the struggle when he was still alive. They said they are tired of being used by MPs and dumped after winning.
The foot soldiers showed bad manners in front of secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya who tried his best to calm them down in vain. Mathias Walukagga also tried to calm them down but he failed. Foot soldiers grabbed the microphone and forcefully spoke their mind. They said they are tired of being used during campaign time.
Mourners got divided with some of them defending MPs saying they must have feared to come because foot soldiers these days are very cruel and they want to beat MPs. That the foot soldiers earlier on descended on NUP MP David Serukenya of Makindye Ssabagabo and beat him up at Kavule. Sserukenya shed tears and called for help from the party office security.
The foot soldiers accused Sserukenya of doing nothing for the struggle yet he was sitting in parliament because foot soldiers sacrificed. Sserukenya cried for help and reminded the foot soldiers of the good things he had done for the struggle including giving his ambulance to escort Kyagulanyi during the campaign in the whole country.
The mistreatment of Sserukenya discouraged many fellow MPs who nowadays fear coming for party functions for fear of being humiliated. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com.
