Abed Bwanika: Muwanga Kivumbi Is A Coward Who Became Frozened On Merely Talking To M7 On Phone

Abed Bwanika has taunted Buganda Caucus Chairman Muwanga Kivumbi who he says isn’t the great man he would like the public to think he is.

Bwanika says that the loss of the Coffee debate should squarely be blamed on Kivumbi’s failure to render effective leadership at the time it mattered most. That Kivumbi and LoP Joel Senyonyi’s failure to offer effective leadership is responsible for the ease with which Gen Museveni and his NRM side managed to abolish Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA).

The Kimanya-Kabonera MP, who says he has already started on his 2nd term 2026-2031, says Muwanga Kivumbi is even a coward who sweaten plasma and became frozened on merely talking to Gen YK Museveni on Speaker Anita Among’s phone.

Bwanika, who wasn’t there in that Buganda Caucus meeting as Among passed on the phone to Kivumbi with Museveni on line, says that the Butambala County MP got overwhelmed talking to the President and his tongue became frozened as the man from Rwakitura branded him a very dangerous terrorist. That he kept saying “yes sir” as the President roared the other side of the phone.

He said that when Museveni barked on phone, Muwanga Kivumbi coiled and couldn’t say much. “I wasn’t in that meeting but I’m told that Muwanga, who claims to be a fearless man, was only saying yes sir and wasn’t able to put across any argument to counter what the President was saying.”

Bwanika says Muwanga Kivumbi’s ineffective leadership of the Caucus further manifested when he failed to convene a single meeting to plan a counter strategy and resorted to demanding that no one else should talk on behalf of Buganda Caucus apart from himself. Abed Bwanika says failure to put members together, as the more than 30 NRM MPs from Buganda boycotted and caucused alone and had their separate meetings, was one major loophole Gen Museveni capitalized on to get his way without much resistance.

Bwanika also said even when he organised a few Caucus meetings, Kivumbi seemed disorganised and failed to articulate any coherent agenda around which members would be rallied. Bwanika says that even in that meeting in Speaker’s office from where Kivumbi spoke to the President, less than 35 MPs were in attendance yet Buganda Caucus has more than 100 members. To him, many kept staying to protest Muwanga’s inept leadership.

That even when he appeared before the Agriculture Committee to give the Caucus position, Kivumbi was almost alone as opposed to rallying all the members to symbolically come with him to send out a strong message of unity and oneness. Bwanika says all this showed the extent to which Kivumbi was ill-prepared to lead the fight against the enemies of Buganda’s Coffee farmers.

Bwanika adds that Muwanga Kivumbi’s ineffective leadership is the reason why President Museveni even backtracked from the concession he had agreed to originally to have UCDA stay for at least three more years to facilitate a peaceful transition. His views were corraborated by Buvuma County MP Robert Migadde with whom he appeared for a talk show on CBS radio. Migadde, who leads a splinter group comprising of NRM MPs from Buganda and was present as Kivumbi spoke on Speaker’s phone, asserted that it’s true Muwanga Kivumbi became very nervous and cowed after talking to the President.

He also admitted that the Buganda Caucus fight wasn’t well led as Kivumbi failed to build cohesion among his members. Migadde says that the day the Caucus appeared before the Agriculture Committee, the Chairman seemed so disorganised the Committee Chairperson even wanted to throw them out but left them to stay out of courtesy and desire not to escalate things.

Bwanika says the circumstances under which Buganda Coffee farmers lost out in the Coffee debate indicated the extent to which Kivumbi and other Kavule loyalists are unfit and should never be entrusted with leadership.

Bwanika said its now clear why the opposition in Buganda has to be led by Mathias Mpuuga who he claims has even been endorsed by the Kabaka of Buganda as opposed to Bobi Wine. Bwanika demanded that the Katikkiro should authorise him and Mpuuga to ride on the Coffee debate and lead a campaign against NUP-sponsored MP Candidates in Buganda because their party has clearly demonstrated its unfitness to lead Kabaka’s people in this region.
