Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Presidential Candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi has accused government of investing in non-productive sectors which has led to poverty and unemployment amongst many Ugandans.

Addressing journalists at his home in Bukaya in Buikwe District on Friday, Nandala said that once many Ugandans are employed, the government will be able to generate more money from taxes like Pay as You Earn (PAYE).

According to Nandala, more employment for Ugandans also means that consumption goes up and government generates money through indirect taxes on items like sugar and beer.

He said that it therefore makes government reduce the rate of taxation but make collect more money from the many taxpayers.

Nandala says that if Ugandans entrust him with the presidency, he will implement economic policies that will improve the lives of the people.

Nandala also decried the high interest rates on motorcycle loans for many young people across the country saying that most motorcycle riders are in a deplorable state. He pledged to invest money in supporting the young people to access motorcycle loans at cheaper credit once he ascends to the presidency.

On the media coverage of the presidential campaigns, Nandala urged media stations to balance the time and space allocated to each presidential candidate when broadcasting or publishing news stories. He also decried the special treatment being accorded to President Yoweri Museveni who is also a Presidential flag bearer.
