Fredmark Chesang, the Sipi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said the suspect was arrested following investigations into the child’s disappearance and death.   “We have filed the case CPS CRB 275/2026 and recorded statements from relevant witnesses, and the suspect has been detained at  Kween Central Police Station to help with the investigation,” Chesang said.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the child went missing on Wednesday 9, in the evening, after her mother sent her to the suspect’s home to collect an axe for splitting firewood.

According to Chesang, Kokop Florence, a resident of the area, reportedly discovered the child’s body wrapped in a sack and dumped near her coffee plantation.

“Kokop alerted area residents, who informed police, leading to the securing of the scene and the deployment of a sniffer dog to assist in the investigation,” he said.

Chesang further revealed that police suspect that the child was sexually assaulted before she was strangled and her neck broken.
