In a morning briefing interview with youtuber Aggrey Baba, Kampala central mayor Salim Uhuru Nsubuga said it’s clear that more than 80% of people in the NRM CEC are backing general Kainerugaba’s presidential ambitions for 2031.
Uhuru said what he saw at PLU offices in Nakasero on Monday when the group’s website digital platforms were being launched convinced him that majority fellow CEC members of his have accepted to back Kainerugaba.
He said apart from Anita Among, Calvin Echodu and Hassan Basajjabalaba who were absent with apology, the rest of the CEC members were present which shows that their decision to honor the invitation by the PLU general secretary Fadhil Twala is the proof that they are okay with Uganda having a new president in 2031.
Uhuru denied being among those senior NRM cadres who are busy encouraging Anita Among to defy the system and stand for president in 2031. Uhuru said much as he is a loyal friend of Anita Among, he isn’t prepared to relate with her beyond mere friendship of both of them being CEC members.
He also denied being part of the people who wanted to organize a freedom party to congratulate Among for securing the president’s pardon. Uhuru was speaking hours after the CDF general Kainerugaba issued a tweet warning people in NRM to stop that nonsense of organizing a freedom party for Anita Among. Even Justine Nameere has come out to explain herself and make it clear to the CDF that she is not involved in such.
Anita Among herself also got scared and wrote a tweet pleading with general Kainerugaba not to destroy her because she is not interested in such celebrations. Kainerugaba had warned that Anita Among should be careful not to abuse Museveni’s pardon because there are many other cases which can be used to destroy her once again.
