Ten suspects are set to appear in court in connection with a series of aggravated robberies and attempted murders allegedly committed by a gang that used motorcycles and pangas to attack victims. The suspects are linked to several robbery incidents within the Kampala Metropolitan Area, including the alleged theft of Sh620 million from Forex Bureau workers along Kampala Road.
Four of the suspects currently in police custody are expected to appear before Mwanga II Chief Magistrates Court. They are Yasin Ssemanda alias Zanda, Ramathan Jjingo alias Rama, Cohen Kasumba alias Farouk and Eric Musoke. Six other suspects already on remand at Luzira Prison in connection with another aggravated robbery case will also be produced before court on production warrants in relation to the latest cases.
They are Ismael Kasozi, Shafik Mulindwa, Ivan Gizamba, Tomimu Kawaganya, Muhammad Kayira and Ivan Ongom. Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer ASP Luke Owoyesigyire said investigations had made significant progress and linked the suspects to several robbery incidents in the metropolitan area.
“Investigations have linked the suspects to several robberies within Kampala Metropolitan Area, including the theft of Sh25.8 million from a fuel station manager along Kasubi-Makerere-Kikoni Road on August 11, 2026,” Owoyesigyire said. He said the suspects had also been linked to the robbery of Sh4.8 million, an iPhone 16 Pro Max, a bracelet and a silver chain from a businessman along Kawaala Road on July 24, 2026.
Owoyesigyire said the investigations had further linked the suspects to robberies involving Sh327 million at Wampewo, Sh35 million at Kiwatule, Sh15 million along Ntinda-Kalinabiri Road, Sh13.5 million at Kamwokya and Sh33.4 million at Namugongo. “The suspects have also been linked to other robberies involving Sh327 million at Wampewo, Sh35 million at Kiwatule, Sh15 million along Ntinda-Kalinabiri Road, Sh13.5 million at Kamwokya, Sh33.4 million at Namugongo and Sh620 million from Forex Bureau workers along Kampala Road,” he said.
Police also linked the suspects to an attempted robbery involving Sh27 million at Namugongo. Owoyesigyire said police were continuing to pursue other suspects still at large and recover property believed to have been acquired from the proceeds of crime. “We continue to pursue other suspects still at large and recover property believed to have been acquired from the proceeds of crime,” he said-URN.
