A 30-year-old woman is in custody at the Kibaale Central police station for allegedly kidnapping her co-wife’s 5-year-old girl from Matale Sub County.
The suspect is identified as Annet Mujuni Kengozi, a mobile money agent operating in Kiryanjagi Trading Center in Kagadi district. She is a second wife to Deo Lubega, the girl’s father, who is also an MTN agent operating in Kiryanjagi trading center.
It is alleged that on Wednesday, Kengozi reportedly kidnapped the 5-year-old girl who is a pupil at Holy Family Nursery and Primary School. The girl was kidnapped as she was going to school.
Sarah Nabosa, the mother to the kidnapped girl, reveals that her daughter was kidnapped on Wednesday morning while heading to school. She says that upon getting information that her daughter had been kidnapped, she immediately rushed and reported the case at Mataale police station
Moses Kitamirike, the Kibaale District Police Commander (DPC), has confirmed the arrest of Kengozi on accusations of kidnapping a child, adding that investigations into the case have commenced.
According to Kitamirike, the suspect was arrested in Kagadi together with the kidnapped child after Kibaale police collaborated with their counterparts in Kagadi to track down the suspect.
