The police in Kaberemaido district are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of businessman Rebert Oseng, who was hacked to death.

‎The incident occurred on the night of June 6, 2026, in Okeratok Village, Kaberamaido Sub-county, as Oseng was returning home after operating his business in town.‎

‎Preliminary findings indicate that Oseng had a longstanding land dispute with his brothers, which is currently before the court. It is also alleged that he had previously received threats to his life.‎

‎On the night of the incident, Oseng’s body was discovered lying in a pool of blood along his usual route home after family members were unable to reach him by phone. An alarm was raised, prompting a police response.‎‎

‎Ibrahim Saiga, the East Kyoga Regional Police Commander, stated that a team of officers visited and processed the scene. A police K9 unit was deployed and successfully tracked the suspects, leading to the arrest of three individuals, all relatives of the deceased.Their names are being withheld as investigations are ongoing.‎

‎”Police strongly condemn acts of violence and we urge the public to resolve disputes, especially land-related conflicts, through lawful means,” Saiga stated.‎-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
