Preparations have begun in Kasese for the 59th anniversary of the coronation of Omusinga (King) Charles Wesley Mumbere. During the celebrations, guests will enjoy a variety of cultural performances, including dances, dramas, and poetry recitals.
The Kingdom is seeking 1 billion Shillings to fund various activities, including an Empango marathon, a blood donation drive, a music festival, and other events. The Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Benson Kule Baritazale, called on subjects to support the fundraising efforts.
He also unveiled two committees responsible for coordinating the coronation anniversary celebrations and the King’s birthday run. Baritazale explained that the coronation anniversary will focus on initiating development projects and outlining strategies for implementing the Kingdom’s five-year development plan.
The Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu (OBR) is also planning to establish a radio station to further promote the Kingdom’s culture and initiatives. Mustafa Kikusa, Chairperson of the Coronation Organizing Committee, emphasized the need for networking and collaborative efforts among the Kingdom’s subjects and development partners to ensure the success of the planned activities.
Yonah Tumusiime, the Minister of Protocol, has been appointed as Chairperson of the organizing committee for the King’s birthday run, scheduled for November 14.
