The National Resistance Movement-NRM has continued its political dominance in Kasese district by winning all the LCIII seats in Kasese Municipality.
In Nyamwamba Division, Brian Kawuntura secured a decisive victory, polling 4,225 votes, defeating his closest rival, Pimako Kasereka, who polled 1,929 votes.
The seat was initially held by Masereka, who opted to run as an independent after losing the NRM flag.
Kawuntura pledged to prioritize the skilling of the youth in areas of tailoring and hairdressing, a key economic sector in the division.
In Central Division, NRM’s Balamu Baluku clinched the LC III seat with 2,232 votes, edging out FDC’s Alfred Ikwera, who garnered 2,060 votes.
The seat was held by Martin Safari of FDC, who switched from the municipality to go and contest for the same position in Mpondwe-Lubhiriha Town Council.
He lost the election.
Baluku promised to intensify mobilization and sensitization efforts around government programs so that more residents can access available opportunities.
In Bulembia Division, incumbent LC III chairperson Richard Bomera retained his seat. He vowed to build on his previous term and continue with what he described as uninterrupted service delivery to the people.
The NRM chairperson, Selevano Mulondi, has expressed gratitude to voters and well-wishers arging that the victory accounts for what the government has been able to deliver in the last decade in Kasese Municipality.
Mulondi praised the electorate for the confidence shown in the NRM flag bearers, assuring residents that the newly elected leaders will focus on effective service delivery.
The party had initially won all six parliamentary seats and the LCV position.
