Mukaku Splashes Money In Bulange As Katikkiro Warns Against Intrigue Among Key Baganda Politicians

DP Bloc Principal Samuel Walter Lubega Mukaku on Thursday led a large delegation of opposition leaders to Bulange Mengo where they met the Katikkiro and participated in weekly fundraising session called Luwalo Lwaffe. This is a platform for Kabaka’s loyalists to come to Bulange and publicly contribute money for the running of Buganda Kingdom activities.

In return, they reap political dividend if they are politicians because they get discounted publicity on Kabaka’s very popular media platforms like CBS radio and BBS TV. They also get to take memory-creating photos with the Katikkiro of Buganda who is always at hand to receive the money and shake their hands. The event of Thursday this week had several groups coming from the different Counties of Buganda.

Mukaku’s DP Bloc had leaders from across Buganda and other parts of the country. They came with money and other goodies called Amakula for the Kingdom leaders. As delegation head, Mukaku spoke at length and crowned it all by announcing and proceeding to hand over their DP Bloc contribution of Shs13m. This was handed over by the DP Bloc delegation as the crowd wildly ululated.

Mukaku, flanked by Mabikke, informed Deputy Katikkiro Waggwa Nsibirwa who represented his boss Peter Mayiga, that they want to get Baganda behind their 2026 season political leader Mathias Mpuuga so that they are able to eclipse the other so-called opposition groups which want to keep getting votes from Buganda without loyalty and feeling obliged to be obedient and respectful to the throne (the Namulondo). This was a veiled reference to Bobi Wine’s NUP whose leaders Mpuuga supporters say are disrespectful and out to destroy the Buganda Kingdom.

As the crowd and journalists marveled at the Shs13m, with which Mukaku parted very easily, the former Presidential Candidate (2011) reported another contribution of several millions from Mathias Mpuuga who he introduced as the boss of the “My Leader” movement, which sources say will culminate into Mathias Mpuuga running for President in 2026.

In his speech, Oweek Waggwa Nsibirwa welcomed the contribution from DP Bloc and also castigated politicians who call themselves Baganda yet they go ahead to target fellow leaders from Buganda for destruction. Mukaku had, in an earlier speech, complained against this intrigue by some myopic politicians and implored the Buganda Kingdom leadership to do the same.

Mukaku also delivered contributions and messages from other leaders in the pro-Mpuuga coalition including Abed Bwanika, Masaka Woman MP Kakande, Mathias Mpuuga himself, Entebbe Municipality’s Micheal Kakembo, Joyce Bagala and others. He said these are well groomed leaders who greatly respect Buganda Kingdom and will never disrespect the throne once the aspirations and objectives of the Mpuuga My Leader coalition come to fruition.

Waggwa Nsibirwa also told his guests about the plans Buganda Kingdom has to do value addition on coffee from the region so that it’s exported in the processed, as opposed to raw, form. The pomp the DP Bloc delegation exhibited in Bulange dominated discussion on many opposition-leaning WhatsApp groups or forums where Mpuuga’s influence has rapidly been growing while Robert Kyagulanyi’s diminishes.
