The Mbale School of Hygiene in Northern Division, Mbale City, is set to host the regional paramedical championship from Monday, May 5th to Wednesday, May 7th, 2025. A range of sports will feature during the three-day event, including athletics, field events, football, netball, volleyball, handball, mind games, and woodball, with participation from both boys and girls.
Competitions will be staged across three fields: Malukhu DA, SOCCO, and the School of Hygiene grounds. Jimmy Alioni, the Sports Tutor and Registrar at Mbale School of Hygiene, expressed the institution’s readiness, saying, “We have done what it takes to host, and we hope our athletes will observe discipline to ensure a successful championship.”
In woodball, team captain Amunyo Irene voiced optimism about her squad’s performance. “We have trained enough to maintain our good records at the regional level and even for nationals,” she said. She also praised the school for providing equipment, even though training only started two months ago. “We appreciate the Federation of Woodball for introducing this game. Woodball is a good game, even though some people think it’s only for planned kids,” Amunyo added.
The competition program will see athletics, field events, and woodball held on Monday, with other games continuing on Tuesday, and the finals wrapping up on Wednesday. So far, three institutions have confirmed participation: Mbale School of Hygiene, Mbale College of Health Sciences, and Salem Nursing School. The best-performing schools will earn the honor of representing the region at the national championships in Hoima-URN.
