A murder investigation is underway in Kabwangasi Town Council, Butebo District, following the discovery of a 56-year-old man’s body at his home on November 4, 2025.
The deceased, Fred Kirya, a resident of Kachuru Village, was allegedly attacked by Sam Opolot, who is currently in police custody.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred after Opolot accused Kirya of uprooting his boundary markers. A relative reportedly intervened to separate the two men, but Kirya was later found dead in his home.
Police were notified, and a case file has been opened at Kabwangasi Police Station.
Detectives from Butebo visited the crime scene, and statements have been recorded from relatives and witnesses.
ASP Wilfred Kyempasa, Public Relations Officer for Bukedi North Region Police, confirmed the arrest of Opolot and stated that investigations are ongoing.
