Barely a day to the arrival of Arch Bishop of the Church of Uganda Stephen Kazimba Mugalu in Ma’di West Nile, the administration of Ma’di West Nile diocese and the Central organizing committee has unveiled a budget of Shs 90 million to organize a Farewell party.
Arch Bishop Kazimba is expected in Arua on Saturday evening after an overnight farewell ceremony in Nebbi church of Uganda diocese.
According to the organizers of the farewell ceremony, all the Christians in the various churches under Madi West Nile diocese are expected to converge at the diocesan headquarters in Emmanuel Cathedral Mvara in Arua City from the 4th to 5th October 2026.
The Arch Bishop who has visited Ma’di West Nile three times during his tenure is expected to among other activities commission Christ Church Ediofe, Bless Emmanuel cathedral Mvara and also bless the multi-billion diocesan Jubilee office which is under construction.
Moses Obeta, chairman central organizing committee for the farewell ceremony for Arch Bishop Kaziimba, told the press on Friday afternoon said the 90 million funded by Christians in the diocese, will mainly be spent on Reception, Gifts and Health Care for the two days of the farewell ceremony.
According to Obeta, over 2,500 guests have officially been invited including the Bishop and Christians of Aru’ province and Business Moguls in DR Congo, Bishops and Christians from South Sudan and various dignitaries within and outside West Nile.
Meanwhile Biruha Angualiru Leti the Ma’di West Nile Diocesan Head Laity and a member of the organizing committee said the diocese has provided an opportunity to the pupils and students to have an encounter with the archbishop as a way of spiritual inspiration to them.
But Charles Collins Andaku the Bishop Ma’di West Nile diocese and the host of Archbishop Kaziimba for the farewell said Archbishop Kaziimba deserves a heroic welcome and farewell in Ma’di West Nile because of his contribution to unity, development and environmental protection in the diocese.
All the 12 Arch Deaconries in Madi West Nile Diocese are expected to attend the farewell ceremony from Saturday evening until Monday morning when the archbishop will travel back to Kampala. Stephen Kaziimba is the 9th Archbishop of the Church of Uganda set to retire in August 2027 after succeeding Stanley Ntagali-URN.
