A lot of entertainment stars and musicians have jumped on the NUP bandwagon opportunistically thinking that Kyagulanyi will endorse them for MP seats. These include King Saha, Tuff B, Big Eye, Prossy Mukisa Nabossa and others. They are largely focusing on Kampala metropolitan area districts of Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono and to an extent Mityana.

But it has been established that Kyagulanyi is privately very contemptuous of many of these and isn’t prepared to risk giving them the NUP ticket when it’s even doubtable that they have the necessary academic qualifications. Sources referred to King Saha who Kyagulanyi doubts he is educated enough to become an MP.

“They are naïve and politically illiterate yet they are inflating themselves by demanding for MP positions which have a higher standard. They had better learn from Mathias Walukagga and Nubian Li and go for local council positions to start as councilors or mayors in those small town councils,” says a Kavule insider.

On his part, Kyagulanyi has been clever and clear in his private conversations with these singers whereby he keeps telling Them-I’m not the one who decides but reports coming from the ground. He has tasked each one of them to go and market themselves on the ground among voters. This may be frustrating but it’s the truth.

Because of what the ground says so far, there is no way voters in Makindye east can shun more established politicians and go for an upstart like Tuff B. The same applies to Nansana municipality which Big Eye wants to represent.

Even in Mityana, Nabossa stands no chance in a field composed of lord councilor Bitanu/500, Joyce Bagala and Mityana deputy LC5 Chairperson Catherine Nalweyiso. The caution Bobi Wine has about fellow musicians explains why he hasn’t accepted proposals to front singer Mathias Walukagga to stand against Medard Segona who Kavule hates because of refusing to attack Mpuuga.

Nina Rose stands a chance because she wants to become woman MP in Sembabule where NUP doesn’t have much representation. Willingness to stand and liberate her own birth place has distinguished Nina Rose from other fellow entertainers who Kavule sees as nothing but mere job seekers trying to run away from poverty after the climax of their music careers.Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
