The administration at Our Lady of Fatima, Queen of Peace Kasana Cathedral has launched a major, multi-million-shilling redevelopment project, marking the first comprehensive upgrade of the Cathedral in many years. The initiative aims to enhance both the appearance and functionality of the diocesan seat.
Since assuming office in September as the new Vicar General and Cathedral Administrator, Msgr. Vincent De Paul Mukiibi has spearheaded the project under the campaign name “Yoyoota Kasana,” meaning “make the Cathedral shine.” The redevelopment is planned in three phases. Phase One focuses on completing the compound and perimeter wall, improving lighting, repainting, installing a modern public address system, and constructing new public washrooms.
Phase Two will involve general renovations to the Cathedral itself, including roof improvements and comprehensive repainting. Phase Three will upgrade the Presbytery and Cathedral administration offices. The Diocese has noted that the facelift will require significant financial contributions from the faithful and well-wishers, given the scale of the project.
During a pilgrimage by Ziroobwe Parish on Sunday, December 7, 2025, as part of the Holy Jubilee Year celebrations, parishioners contributed Shs 8 million towards diocesan development. Bishop Mukasa commended them for their generosity and encouraged all people of God in the Diocese to see the redevelopment as a shared responsibility.
Msgr. Mukiibi also appealed for continued support, emphasizing that the pace of the facelift will depend on the funds raised.
