The Government of Japan has donated Shs300 million to Amorigoga Primary School in Abongomola Sub-County, Kwania District, to support the construction of new classrooms and sanitation facilities, in a boost aimed at improving learning conditions in the rural school.

The funding will be used to construct two classroom blocks, build 17 stances of latrines, and supply the school with 76 desks, addressing long-standing infrastructure shortages that have forced some learners to study in overcrowded classrooms and open spaces.

The head teacher of Amorigoga Primary School, Joel Ayeni, said the support followed a project proposal he submitted to the Japanese Embassy, requesting financial assistance to improve the school’s infrastructure. Ayeni said the donation has come at a critical time when the school is operating under dilapidated and inadequate classrooms, adding that the project, once completed, will significantly improve pupil retention, enrolment, and the overall learning environment.

Local leaders have welcomed the development. The Abongomola Sub-County LCV Male Councillor, Alex Opara, said the project will go a long way in complementing government efforts to improve education infrastructure in Kwania District, particularly in underserved rural communities. Parents have also expressed excitement over the development.

Mike Ngura Okello, a parent at the school, praised the head teacher for successfully lobbying for the project, noting that it will relieve both parents and the school of the burden of pupils studying under tree shades due to limited classroom space.

Amorigoga Primary School is a government-aided primary school located in Amorigoga A Village, Amorigoga Parish, Abongomola Sub-County, along the Aduku–Abongomola–Corner Agwata Road in Kwania District.
