Led by Julius Ssentamu, a group of disgruntled NUP party members in Lwengo district have defied Kavule and decided to stand as independents.
They say they can’t be bound by what the NUP EMC put out as the list of flag bearers because it was all fake and based on corruption and fraudulent decision making by people at Kavule.
They have opened a big war on the list of so-called NUP flag bearers who are led by Hakim Kiiza Sawula, a very rich lord councilor who is also a member of Erias Lukwago’s cabinet at KCCA.
The Ssentamu group members say that NUP has become a party of injustice where only the rich like Hakim Kiiza are considered.
Ssentamu started opposing  the NRM for Bukoto south MP seat many years ago when the area still had Hajji Muyanja Mbabali. He has been standing there since the year 2011. At that time Sawula was in Kampala enjoying sausages and making it clear he couldn’t risk opposing NRM in the village areas.
Ssentamu has also been leading groups of NUP supporters from Lwengo to take goats and trucks full of matooke and other goodies to Magere for the enjoyment of Kyagulanyi and his family members.
In the end, Julius Ssentamu was given nothing because people at Kavule preferred Sawula’s money and ignored Ssentamu because he is a poor man with nowhere to steal the taxpayers money from.
His supporters are hurting and this may favour NRM to win in Bukoto south and other parts of Lwengo which is Semujju Nganda’s home district.
The supporters are also asking Kyagulanyi to come out and publicly attack his nephew Church Hill Ssentamu, the Makerere guild president and son to Fred Nyanzi, who is standing for the position of youth MP on the independent ticket.
