The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party presidential candidate, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, has vowed to end corruption in Uganda, once his government is given mandate in the 2026 general election, to ensure that service delivery in the country improves.
Mafabi, who is currently in West Nile for his campaign tour, noted that several service sectors in the country are struggling due to high levels of corruption which has not been addressed by the ruling government yet it needs urgent attention.
Addressing rallies in Yumbe and Koboko districts yesterday, Mafabi said high taxes levied on citizens by government could easily be reduced if corruption is addressed and resources get allocated correctly to different sectors.
Mafabi assured public that his government will arrest and punish any corrupt official found guilty as a solution to ending corruption which will help in reducing the high taxes levied by government as result of corruption.
He noted that key sectors like transport, health and education are struggling and needs to be considered in improving but corruption makes it impossible as resources are most times swindled and this is not addressed.
Mafabi also promised West Nile that his government will compensate all ex-combatants and people who lost their properties during the insurgencies. These include Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and Uganda National Rescue Front wars in the region that let to loss of properties and lives.
Mafabi started his West Nile campaign tour in Adjumani District on Monday this week and later addressed other rallies in Obongi and Moyo Districts while his rallies in Terego and Madi-Okollo District are scheduled for today. He will also talk in Arua, Aracha, Nebbi, Pacwach and Zombo before leaving West Nile.
