A 14-year-old boy has died in a fatal road accident after the bicycle he was riding was knocked a motor vehicle in Luwero District. The deceased has been identified as Kigozi Wasswa, a resident of Bukomba Village in Luwero Town Council.
According to Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police spokesperson, preliminary investigations indicate that a white and red Mercedes-Benz Actros Reg. No. UAZ 490D / UAZ 665F driven by Denis Ochom was travelling from Luwero towards Gulu when it collided with the pedal cyclist along the Kampala-Gulu highway.
Twiineamazima said the body of the deceased was taken to Luwero General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. He added that the motor vehicle has been parked at the weighbridge pending inspection by traffic investigators.
According to police, the relevant accident investigation forms have been completed and inquiries into the crash are ongoing. The Police Force has extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and urged both motorists and cyclists to exercise greater caution while using the roads.
