The Bishop of Hoima Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Vincent Kirabo Amooti, has urged Christians across the diocese to build firm spiritual foundations that will strengthen and sustain the Catholic faith for generations to come.

The Bishop made the call on Wednesday while presiding over the confirmation of 642 Christians at Our Lady Help of Christians Bujuni Catholic Parish in Kibaale Town Council—an occasion marked by prayer, reflection, and renewed commitment to Christian life.

In his homily, Bishop Kirabo reminded the faithful that the strength of the Church lies in the willingness of each believer to faithfully fulfill their responsibilities.

He called upon Christians to embrace their role as witnesses of the Gospel, noting that the faith enjoyed today is a treasured legacy handed down by the first missionary priests who evangelized Western Uganda. Runyoro

He encouraged believers to make Jesus Christ the center of their lives, describing Him as the true path to salvation and lasting hope.

As the Church journeys through the Advent season, he invited Christians to use this sacred time for renewal, prayer, and recommitmen especially those who may have grown distant from active participation in Church life.

Bishop Kirabo offered words of guidance and encouragement, urging them to remain disciplined, obedient, and prayerful.

He reminded them that confirmation is not the end, but the beginning of a deeper walk of faith marked by good morals, service, and responsibility.

The celebration also highlighted the Church’s commitment to holistic development. The Episcopal Vicar for Kibaale Vicariate, Msgr. John Mary Mzee Kitone Kabyanga praised Bishop Kirabo’s pastoral leadership and shared how the diocese continues to support both spiritual and social transformation.

He pointed to initiatives such as coffee growing under the Hoima Catholic Diocese (HOCADEO) program, alongside the promotion of cattle keeping and agriculture, which are helping improve livelihoods and strengthen parish communities.

Msgr. Kabyanga noted that when spiritual nourishment is paired with economic empowerment, families are better positioned to live dignified lives rooted in faith and self-reliance.
