The Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese in Kasese, Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku has called upon believers to embrace peace and unity as they prepare their hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Delivering his Christmas message on Thursday at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Bishop Baluku reminded Christians that the true meaning of Christmas is rooted in peace, love, and reconciliation. He urged clergy and lay leaders alike to become living ambassadors of peace, noting that this sacred responsibility must first take shape within their own homes before extending to the wider community.

The Bishop emphasised that peace is not merely a seasonal message but a vital foundation for spiritual growth, family harmony, and the strengthening of the Church.

Reflecting on the journey of the diocese over the past year, Bishop Baluku expressed gratitude to God for the steady progress registered. He highlighted improved local income collections and increased donor support, describing them as signs of faithfulness and collective commitment among believers.

He particularly commended the growth of the Diocesan Trinity Sacco, saying the cooperative has become a beacon of hope and self-reliance. The Bishop noted that the Sacco is positioning the diocese to finance its development sustainably, without over-dependence on commercial bank loans.

The Bishop also shared encouraging updates on ongoing infrastructure projects, including the construction of new schools and the expansion of community initiatives aimed at uplifting livelihoods and nurturing future generations in the diocese.

He further revealed plans to introduce special services dedicated to retired clergy, acknowledging their lifelong service and ensuring they continue to feel valued and supported within the Church family.

As the faithful journey toward Christmas Day, the Bishop called on believers to welcome the Prince of Peace not only into their churches, but into their hearts, homes, and daily interactions, so that the joy of Christ’s birth may be reflected in the lives of service, compassion, and unity.
