Residents of Gwendu Sub County in Buliisa District are decrying continued destruction of crops, accusing Balalo of grazing their cattle in gardens, a situation they say is threatening household food security and affecting PDM beneficiaries.

Ali Businga, a resident of Gwedu Village, explains that farmers in the area invested PDM funds in crop production, but their gardens are now being destroyed by grazing animals.

A community dialogue reportedly held two months ago by the Sub County’s Senior Assistant Secretary, involving representatives from the DPC, GISO and RDC’s offices to address the vices. However residents says they haven’t seen any positive change.

Salotha Thorac, Chairperson of the Farmers Association in Sembie, Gwedu Village, says crops planted during the first season have been heavily affected, raising fears of food shortages and growing disputes within the community.

The Buliisa District LC5 Chairperson, Twairi Atuhaire, acknowledges the outcry, saying similar concerns have also been reported in other sub-counties. He has encouraged residents to document incidents and report suspected cattle owners through local authorities for subsequent action-URN.
