African Rural University (ARU), an all-women institution located in Kagadi Town Council, Kagadi District, will celebrate its 11th graduation ceremony Friday, 21st November 2025, at its main campus. In an interview with Uganda radio network, ARU’s Communications Officer, Joseph Odoi, announced that 17 students will graduate, ready to join their respective communities as rural transformation specialists. This year’s graduation theme, “Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Indigenous Knowledge for Sustainable Rural Transformation,” reflects the university’s commitment to integrating modern technologies with traditional practices to foster sustainable development in rural areas. Odoi explained that the university’s emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI) is designed to equip graduates with the skills to harness AI tools for addressing the unique challenges faced by rural communities, from agricultural innovation to healthcare and education. “AI is not just a tool for urban centers. With the right applications, it can revolutionize rural economies by improving efficiency, increasing access to services, and supporting sustainable practices,” Odoi said. Graduates will receive degrees in Bachelor of Rural Developmentand Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Agriculture, with a focus on applying AI to enhance rural livelihoods.
