At the time of nominations, Mathias Mpuuga parted with more than 500m to fund the nomination of all DF candidates.

This was done for all DF candidates including councilors, mayors like Moses Kasibante, LC5 chairpersons and MPs who are 90 in total.

Each MP candidate got 3m from DF for nominations and these are strong men and women of the struggle because non of them has been bought off by NRM to pull out of the race the way it has been done on NUP candidates.

The process to select them was thorough and not funny like the one of NUP vetting which disgruntled party members say was based on money and technical know who.

Now with the voting day of Jan 15th not being very far, Mpuuga has sent out a circular calling all DF candidates to come for the second phase of their campaign posters which they are getting for free because their party has already cleared everything for them.

They will also be given money for vote protection to facilitate agents who will be charged with collecting and securing their DR forms.

The question which many Ugandans are now asking on social media is how come NUP which has been getting IPOD billions hasn’t been able to fund its candidates yet a young party like DF is doing so much for its candidates.

If what Mpuuga is doing isn’t the same as okulabisa the NUP bosses, then what is it?

Mpuuga says he is determined to set a high standard on how a proper political party has to be operated.

Sources close to him say this is just the beginning. He is determined to keep putting NUP to shame through his exemplary actions.
