Police in Hoima City are hunting for unknown assailants who waylaid and fatally stabbed a woman on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Leo Nalubega, a resident of Kyesiiga West Cell, Kyesiiga Ward in Hoima West Division.

According to information obtained by Uganda Radio Network (URN), the attackers ambushed Nalubega, stabbing her several times in the back and buttocks before dumping her by the roadside. She was found unconscious on Monday morning by passersby, who alerted the police.

Nalubega was rushed to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital but died a few hours after admission. Edward Isingoma, the Hoima West Division speaker, described Nalubega as a well-known resident in the area and expressed concern over why she was targeted. He cautioned residents, especially women, against moving alone late at night and urged police to thoroughly investigate the killing.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police spokesperson, confirmed that investigations are underway. He appealed to the public to cooperate with detectives by providing information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects. Nalubega’s body is currently at Hoima City mortuary pending a postmortem examination.
